You will be greeted by the friendly smiles of eager patients in small communities near the base of Mount Aconcagua. The medical team will set up clinic in various community centers and be able to provide care to the nomadic tribes whose origins created the vast agriculture civilization. In 2000, Argentina suffered an economic depression that left the country completely paralyzed. The repercussions have devastated the people. The growing impoverishment of the lands has brought many of the Huarpe into the community provinces where the team will be based. As a result, the primary health centers were too few to care for the number of people. Medical equipment, medicine and personnel to provide medical attention has become increasingly scarce. IMR volunteers will bring much needed aid and community health to the people. You will get to participate in culture hands on with a variety of experiences from shopping to wine tasting to tango lessons. Learn hands on from gauchos about their ancestry while eating the local asado (barbeque beef) and locro (stew). Extend your stay for a Mountain Expedition and trek the famed Aconcagua with a guide team of mules and porters for your climb.
