Join us in this ancient landscape where the history of the world unfolds before you as you step back into times of biblical proportion to give health care to those with very limited access to medical attention. You will work in the famed Northern territory in a small community from the past. Here you will stay at an orphanage and have the opportunity to bond with the children everyday after clinic. The team will enjoy participating in the daily activities of the youth and having nightly community sharing time. The medical volunteers will work at the nearby hospital to provide dental, medical and community health education. You will participate in several very special Ethiopian Coffee Ceremonies, an integral part of their social and cultural life. This hospitable tribute to you is a mark of friendship and respect.

As you amble down tiny the dirt streets in this remarkable village, you will be surrounded by smiling faces eager to offer their hand to stroll along your side. Join in with the children playing games, take a donkey-pulled cart ride, visit the local market and more. In this tucked away ancient setting, where camels frequently amble, you will enjoy visiting a rock-hewn church, one of the world’s most astounding sacred sites.

Ethiopia is a unique and secluded country. It has never been colonized by a European power, and as a result the people have retained a strong cultural identity and are renowned for their warmth and hospitality. It possesses some of the most impressive architecture found anywhere, particularly in the North where the rock-hewn churches have been described as the Eighth Wonder of the World. The landscape is equally memorable and Ethiopia is home to some of the finest mountain scenery in Africa. The physical landscape, history, people, and cultural significance have earned this site-distinguished recognition as a World Heritage Site.
