SHAUNA VOLLMER KING, MPAh

Mrs. Shauna Vollmer King, a US citizen and Colorado native, began taking medical teams to developing countries in 2000. Here King establishes international medical, dental and surgical clinic programs.  She works with governments throughout the world and their respective ministries of health and trade offices.  Mrs. King recruits medical teams, makes all logistical arrangements for team, clinic and medicine procurement, oversees fundraising, and directs all clinic programs. Her overseas expertise spans across the globe from projects she has conducted in Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Honduras, Cuba, Uganda, Ethiopia, Senegal, Mauritania, Kenya, South Africa, Kosovo, Laos, Haiti, Mozambique, Romania, Turkey, China, Thailand, India, Myanmar and Mexico - and is well traveled throughout the world. She founded International Medical Relief in 2002.

 

 

Previously, Mrs. King founded and ran the CURE Clinic program for Project C.U.R.E.. Additionally, she had served in an executive management position for Centura Health, a one and a half billion-dollar company, where she oversaw all statewide charitable community health and outreach activities with a budget totaling over 74 million dollars annually. She administered all doctor volunteer opportunities and disaster relief programs. Additionally she oversaw and provided development for all of the system's 50 statewide boards with over 500 board members throughout the system. As part of her work in the health care industry, King's background includes state and federal health care legislative experience as well as serving on two major Colorado health care boards.



Shauna brings expertise and knowledge to this position through her master of public administration with a finance emphasis from The American University, Graduate School of Public Affairs, as well as a master health care management emphasis from the George Washington University, School of Health Services Management and Policy Institute, Washington, DC. Prior to this, she received a bachelor of arts in political science from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.  She and her husband have five boys and reside in Colorado.
