Guatemala Clinic day 1:
156 was the magic number. 156 blood pressures. 156 questions.156 patients that came to our pop up clinic in a little town that most of us would probably butcher pronouncing. The turnout was honestly surprising for holy day, especially for one as hot and humid as this. But nevertheless, tens of people, men with their elderly parents and women with children clinging to their shorts or babies in their arms, came into the school turned mini-clinic/dental office/pharmacy/glasses store. No care, however, would have been done if it wasn’t for the army of amazing translators who put our patients at ease by translating our medical babble. With the sun throwing heat onto us and the occasional merciful cool breeze, we all were able to help those that sought medical attention to the best of our ability. 156 was the magic number. Once the last 156th patient left us with a smile, we knew we did good. – Akua, IMR Team Guatemala
