When we are young, we all have an idea of how we think our life will go—and then we get to the place where all we can do is laugh because of the actual path that it is taking. Nothing goes according to plan, but that’s because things aren’t meant to. Instead, we sometimes receive divine intervention from people sent from the universe to be a part of our journey.
I went on this journey with a group of strangers. I am leaving with more friends than I can count and a cup that is filling over with joy, love and hope. We bonded because of our differences. We laughed, and laughed and laughed. We sweated together, cried together and held each other up. We are different and the same. We are the good, we are the change, we are the hope, we brought skills and medicine but as a very wise, very kind, very good man reminded me medicine does not cure all, only one thing does…love. Love brings light to the darkest of days, joy in times of despair and hope in the darkness.
Team IMR thank you. Thank you for the laughs and thank you for the reminder that each day brings the potential of magic. Thank you for sharing your stories and your selves with me.
To the country of Thailand. Thank you for showing me that a smile goes a long way, thank you for wrapping your loving arms around me and healing the hurt. Thank you for your gracious acceptance of what little we could give and showing me once again that all you need to be happy is faith, hope and love.

Remember this. This is the only perfection we have here on earth. The perfection of helping others. This is the only thing we can do that has last meaning. This is why we’re here. To make each other feel safe.
I wanted to change the lives of people in Thailand, but they ended up changing me.
