Blessed to be part of this dedicated group of volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses and health advocates who believe in the mission of providing quality medical care and education to the poorest of the poor throughout the world. Throughout the past few days we saw 2300+ patients in the rural and remote areas of Zambia. In a region where HIV and TB is an epidemic, where fungal and parasitic infections like River Blindness is common, we had to think outside of the box to provide quality care despite scarcity of resources. Whether at a prison, a refugee camp, an orphanage, a center for street children or rural clinics, we treated the sick but also addressed through education public health concerns such as clean water, proper sanitation and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
There is no greater feeling than knowing we made a real difference in their lives and seeing a smile on their faces. – Kevin, IMR Team Zambia
